Owncloud client cannot login

i did the following search Search results for '"SetEnvIf Authorization"' - ownCloud Central and found the following quite old FAQ mentioning that this is required since longer time for the client in “normal” operation:

"No basic authentication headers were found" message

Please note that there can be other reasons for this error not solvable by the info posted here. If everything is working skip to the bottom of this post.
