Owncloud set up on IOS device

So I downloaded owncloud for my iphone6. it is asking for server address on the first page when it is first opened. I have tried everything I can think of but they all say server not found. Maybe I'm just missing something, but where do I find my server address or what do I need to put in here, or is there something I do not have configured correctley on owncloud9? I am at a total loss here. I have owncloud 9 installed on Fedora 23 with amahi 9.

Its the same URL you do use for the Webfrontend. So usally something like https://www.yourdomain.com/owncloud

I have tried that, i also have tried http://www.owncloud9.mydomain.net I have tried the ip address, I have my home server installed with fedora 23 amahi 9 when I access my installed owncloud it said http://owncloud9.mydomain.net I hace tried this also and still says server not found.

Can you check in a web browser what's shown when you enter:

http://www.yourdomain.com/owncloud/status.php ?

Additionally, don't you use https, only http?

After trying several different ways. only thing I can get is: {"installed":true,"maintenance":false,"version":"9.0.4.1","versionstring":"9.0.4","edition":""}
I get that by entering in owncloud9.mydomain.net/status.php

From my mobile phone (not connected to wifi or the network) I can enter in my external ip address and access Ahami server dashboard. From my phone if I click on owncloud on the dashboard it tries to open a webpage to a domain that does not exist. mydomain.net If I click on owncloud from laptop connected to the same network it goes to owncloud9.mydomain.net

As I was typing this I connected my phone to my wifi and opened the owncloud app typed in owncloud9.mydomain.net and states connection established. I need to be able to connect to owncloud with out being connected to my home network. Such as if I am at work.

Please move this thread into the https://central.owncloud.org/c/help/miscellaneous category as this is no issue of ownCloud or the iOS app.

Its a simple problem with missing knowledge how a network is working and how to access systems from outside. A few keywords you want to use for your research to gain this knowledge is:

  • Port forwarding
  • NAT

Pages like https://portforward.com/ will also help you to gain this knowledge.
