Hello, due to an issue with the underlying OS, my OwnCloud installation was kept behind until now. so I have a (working) 8.2.1 install that I want to update to the latest (10.0.7 as of today)

Gentoo Linux

Apache 2.4
Database:
MySQL (MariaDB) (at first glance I see both MyISAM and InnoDB tables, don't know if they are all currently in use)
PHP version:
5.6
ownCloud version: (see ownCloud admin page)

Updated from an older ownCloud or fresh install:
Already update multiple times (maybe from 6 or earlier)
Where did you install ownCloud from:
Download tar from OwnCloud site
My question is: can I follow the upgrade instructions from 9.x to 10 present in the site, or there is some special path I have to follow?
Since the current version is very old, I can't use the built-in update feature as it doesn't find anymore the required tarball
