hi all,
i have added the guests app, created a shared folder called "test" under the admin account and invited a guest user via email to access it
my user has acctivated his account by reseting his password, logs in and has access to the "test" folder but they cannot upload a file to it, all they can do is create folders in the root folder
any help would be greatly appreciated

can you check the permissions?
yes, all of them are ticked and whats funny is my user clicks on the + plus sign and the upload option comes up but when he chooses the file it doesnt upload

i have this as my settings under admin sharing tab (see screenshot
)maybe its my guests whitelist under "limit guest access to an whitelist"
No, my whitelist looks the same:
settings,avatar,files_external,files_trashbin,files_versions,files_sharing,files_texteditor,activity,firstrunwizard,gallery,notifications
Can you recreate that behavior? ( maybe there was an error somewhere )

just out of interest does the guests app allow people to upload a file to a shared folder or just only show what the admin has uploaded to that shared folder?
re-create = do the same thing you did again and see if the result changes.

no, i deleted that folder, created a new folder, shared it with the same user, the user can log on using email/password but cant upload a file but has the option to so i dont understand

That is very unusual behavior indeed.
I just created a new folder as a user, shared it with the admin, reshared that folder with the guest, and could log in and upload in that folder.
Can you have a look at the owncloud.log file and look for errors or strange messages?
Can you delete the new user, the guest. and just send him an invitation again, so his account gets created again with the permissions.
yup, deleted the user in the users page, created a new folder share, shared it to my user guest, sent him an email, he activated his account, logged in and still cant upload a file
stupid question, wheres the log file located?
admin - settings - general - download log
can he try using a different browser? maybe it's a cache issue
cant upload attachments as im a new user
the wierd thing is when i log in as admin (the user who created the folder and shared it out to the user) the admin account can upload a file to it?
You can open the logfile, look for errors or messages and isert them here using the "Preformatted text feature in the top of the message box
why would you not be able to upload files to the folder you created?
i know admin can but why shouldnt the user i shared the folder with, im looking into the logs

could you try something?
You invited the user using a name right? like bob or john. Can that guest login with his username instead of his emailadress?
i tried login in using only username but i cant, as soon as i typed in email it would log me in
