10.0.7 upgrade to 10.0.8 failed

Cliff notes, default install 10.0.7 upgraded from 10.0.8 centos managed packages. Failed. This is why you don't upgrade the very day a product has been updated :slight_smile:

Thanks but when I log into the owncloud 10.0.7 as an admin and click on Market, there are no updates available.

Why does 10.0.8 fail to fetch the new apps if they already exist in the marketplace. I've updated owncloud from 10.0 and have never encountered this app problem.

Since 10.0.8 is so new, I hope some others who have had success updating to 10.0.8 will log on and post some help.

I would suggest to follow the steps above and disable the template editor app before doing the update like the message is suggestion. I think then the update should continue and you can have a look for an update of the app afterwards.

Looks like some other folks are having issues.

This is the last time I update on a new release. I'll wait until the kinks are worked out.

This looks to me that this is an ongoing issue if people can't interpret the pointers the upgrading message is giving them. Maybe the message is not that clear?

I just found a explanation of @DeepDiver1975 in https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/31130#issuecomment-381482950 why this is expected and why do you need to interact manually:

Disabling apps can seriously break your instance during Upgrade. Therefore we leave this to the user who can better judge about the Situation.

Why the Upgrade is not working: i assume the apps folder is not writable by the web server

he still has issues that disabling apps did not resolve. The link above is not for 10.0.8 but a different version. This is more than just disable/enable apps problem.

Also, in my case there are no permission issues with not being able to write to /apps. During all the upgrades from 10.0 to 10.0.8 there were no app permission problems.

Where is the Administrator guide for 10.0.8? It has not been published on the website yet.

Hopefully they will get this fixed in the next few weeks. Not usable as of now.

On the bottom of https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/31300#issuecomment-385136613 the other user had luck by disabling the app as asked in the message so you could try your luck with that as well.

Hi!

I tried to upgrade my owncloud server from 10.0.7 to 10.0.8 via the upgrade button and. The upgrade failed (frozen maintenance mode screen). I then used occ on the command line (webserver user _www on my system to keep the privileges), alas no success either. There seems to be a problem with the mysql database but I'm lost here as I don't know what the error message means or what I can do about it.

Here's what the shell says:

can you try to execute this command again with "-vvv" at the end for verbose otuput?

Also, what Database are you using?

I think this is a completely different issue which should be discussed in a separate thread to avoid mixing two problems.
