I use CuteFTP pro. I can only connect to HTTPS. When I do it takes me to a list of Owncloud/ and the a lot of other owncloud/folderhere. I change the default folder to open to / . When I do this I cannot open any directory it just says data connection closed.

Server configuration
Operating system: ubuntu server 16.04

Database: mysql

ownCloud version (see ownCloud admin page): 9.1
Updated from an older ownCloud or fresh install: fresh install
Special configuration (external storage, external authentication, reverse proxy, server-side-encryption):
Nothing special. I used digital ocean to set everything up. I did the LAMP, PHP, Mysql from them. Then I used their guide to set up a self sign cert. Then their guide on installing owncloud. I have set UFW to allow openssh, apache, apache secure, FTP, 22, 21, 80, 443

Moving to the Miscellaneous category as ownCloud is not providing FTP access at all and so this is no ownCloud issue.

Yep, no FTP access. Recommend a WebDAV Client. Alternatively you can mount FTP from ownCloud as external storage and transfer files that way, but then you need to do regular file scans.

ah ok. I was thinking something was wrong with my install or something. I swear I remember doing it like a year ago or so. Or maybe its changed. I dont know.

On that webdav thing. I tried the link in the owncloud page and it just takes me to a page that says that it can only be done by the owncloud desktop sync client.

Now I do not have a graphical interface for ubuntu just the server that owncloud is installed on. Im gonna have to try and find some stuff on it ... but if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it.

I almost have this complete. I got it accessible from the internet with a domain name. Just want to figure out how to access the dir now
