Can't upgrade to owncloud 10.1 server from webinterface

upgrading from version: 9.1.8
to the latest 10.1.1

got an error when upgrading from web interface when “updating Core” on the top of the page

Server error 200: OK Message: SyntaxError: Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0See your webserver logs for details.

this is the error displayed in the logs

[proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 2876:tid 140259891255040] [client x.xx.xx.xx:xxxxx] AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class ‘OCP\App’ not found in /home/XXXXXX/mydomain/apps/files/appinfo/app.php:28\nStack trace:\n#0 {main}\n thrown in /home/XXXXXX/mydomain/apps/files/appinfo/app.php on line 28\n’

if anyone can help me that’d be great, cheers all

Latest is 10.6

Perhaps your host is running on some old PHP version?

This is a question that is part of the post template, perhaps you can fill that out a little more?

I would never recommend to upgrade through the web interface, always follow the manual process.
The Apache PHP environment often has strict timeouts, memory limits, … all things that can make an upgrade go awry.
