Disable automatic software updates for Windows clients

Hi,

is there a way to disable the automatic update for the OwnCloud client on Windows?
I have no issue if the client checks if there IS an update but then I want to download it on my own and install it as the automatic update always screws the existing installation and I have to put manual effort in it anyway.

Thanks,
Torsten

Hey,

i have put the words “disable update” into the search at the top right on https://doc.owncloud.org and immediately found the following documentation:

https://doc.owncloud.com/desktop/2.6/automatic_updater.html#preventing-automatic-updates

Thank you Tom, I’ve added the parameter now to my config file and will see if the program doesn’t update in the future.
Maybe someone will fix the installer and I can remove the parameter again.

Could you elaborate on this? Is there already an issue for your problem on GitHub.com? (https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues)

Well, I have OwnCloud desktop client installed in a different location (D:\Program Files\owncloud) and every time an update is announced by the client and I click on “Update” the new version always gets installed in the default location (C:\Program Files\owncloud or its 32-bit pendant) wiping my custom location.
I think I first saw the issue with 2.5.2 or .3.
When an update is installed it should not mess with the existing location OR at least should ask where to install the software.
I did not see an open issue for this on GitHub but I could open one if you want.

Hey,

i think creating a new one for the ownCloud development team could make sense so they can have a look at this problem.

This sounds like https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/7580

A fix is planned for the 2.6.1

Indeed, 7580 is the same that I experience.
