Empty .txt files when using Virtual File System

Expected behaviour

Create foldersync on latest Windows 10 using latest OC client and see file content.

Actual behaviour

.txt files show a certain file size but when opened the file is blank and the file size changes to zero. All other file types work just fine.
File is fine when opened via web interface.

Steps to reproduce

  1. start folder sync using virtual file system
  2. create .txt file on server with any content
  3. open on client

@jackocan can you confirm the ownCloud desktop sync client is still running the moment you open the file?

Just wanted to confirm this is happening on my setup too, noticed with all .txt files:
ownCloud 10.4.1 (stable) on Ubuntu, local storage
Windows client 2.6.3

The files open correctly in the web client. The sync does occur on the Windows client when the file is opened, it appears to download the file, the Explorer icon changes from cloud to local (green tick), but the content is not loaded and file size changes to 0KB. Closing and opening the files has no effect.

Yes can confirm. The desktop sync client is running and I want to note again that .txt files are the only one affected from this issue.

GitHub.com issue was opened for this:

We weren’t able to reproduce yet. We’d need a client log from the time of the incident to investigate what’s going on. More in the GitHub.com issue…
