File not found error when downloading files - OwnCloud client for Android

Actual behaviour

-When I click on any files (except for images), the file is downloaded but cannot be opened

Expected behaviour

  • The file is downloaded and opened by the relevant application

Steps to reproduce

  1. Click on a file on the server list
  2. wait downloading
  3. select the app to open the file
then I get the error "file not found (filename.ext)

Can this problem be reproduced with the official owncloud server? NO, all ok there...
(url: https://demo.owncloud.org, user: test, password: test)

NOTE: the file is actually downloaded, I see it in File Manager, but even clicking on it there, I get the same message "file not found".
I have same configuration on a Galaxy Tab S with Android 6.0.1, use it everyday with
no problems, all ok.

The device with the error has an older android OS.

That would be my guess.

Also, you should consider upgrading to the supported OC version

Thank you dmitry for your input;
Actually the device with error has Android 7.0, it's a brand new Tab S.3. The device with the older Android 6.0 works prefectly...
My OC client app is 2.5.0, as downloaded from Google Play last week; as for the OC server 8.0.4, when I click on "update check" in the server admin page it says "up to date - no need to update".
I hope I can solve this issue, I bought two S.3 mainly for OwnCloud syncing with the company's OC server database...

Sorry, it was still to early in the morning.

I meant you are using an old oc server software with an old android firmware and it works - right?

But when using old oc server software with new android firmware - there are errors.

Seems like the new android does not work with old Server software or needs some tweaks.

Hi dmitry,
thank you again; the situation looks as you describe it but after some tests I am getting persuaded that the problem might not be in the OwnCloud software but in the app that I use to open the files, OfficeSuite PRO. On the new tablets with Android 7.0 I can open the files with other apps but not with OfficeSuite PRO.
Not so on the older tablet, with the same version of the app.
I've asked a question on the app developer's forum, hoping someone can halp me.

Again thanks for your help

Besty regards
