friendly links and file search by name

  1. Is owncloud able to create friendly links based on e.g. file name?
    For example: a public link for a file called MyName.pdf generates https://domain/base/s/873teh8w3bc37yt8bc38
    and the ideal would be if it generated https://domain/base/s/myname.pdf
    Imagine creating thousands of links to files, which would take several weeks, and creating a friendly link knowing the beginning and end - a few minutes.

  2. Searching for a file by name - why is there no “search” panel for a client who is not logged in? We share a public folder with thousands of files and you search for them… manually.

These two options would give owncloud a phenomenal advantage over OneDrive, Dropbox, Google - certainly in the versions used b2b.

Unless these options are available in some paid version, I’ll take it! :slight_smile:

The question concerns of course the version on the hosting server on your own domain.

i don’t think that the option 1. is available in ownCloud.

Hey,

from what i know this only removes the usage of “/index.php” in the URLs but doesn’t have any affect on the unique share name created by ownCloud.

maybe on Infinite Scale are either of these two features available?
