How long is normal for this to tak
I had missed disabling the apps… did it and update finish i am ok now.
Ok guess i now need to install the 3 apps I disabled

As you wrote, third-party apps have to be disabled before upgrading ownCloud (see https://doc.owncloud.com/server/admin_manual/maintenance/manual_upgrade.html#review-third-party-apps).
Once the owncloud upgrade is done, you just re-enable the apps (they are not removed, only disabled).
