Internal Server Error on Uploads higher than 250KB

I am having problems with uploading any file type higher than 250KB. This was fine until 2 weeks ago.

I have contacted the server provider (Media Temple) but they have said they don't know what is wrong. They said about the PHP TMP file is full.

Is there a fix for this issue?
