Introducing: ownCloud Contribution Spotlight

We’re starting something new: a regular way to recognize the people doing real work for this community, whether that’s code, documentation, tutorials, or just helping someone out on the forum. Every month, the community team will pick one contribution to spotlight and reward.

To kick things off at Open Source Summit Europe, we’re running a one-time Launch Edition: complete a handful of community tasks (sign up for the newsletter, star us on GitHub, give oCIS a real try, share honest feedback) and submit an actual contribution of your own, such as code, docs, a tutorial, or real help you’ve given someone, and you’re entered for a ticket to KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2027 in Barcelona.
This isn’t a random drawing. The community team reviews entries and picks one that is meaningful, impactful or we think is really cool, so a quick box-checked submission won’t win over someone who actually engaged with it and contributed something real.

The KubeCon ticket is specific to this launch round. Starting in January, the Spotlight becomes a monthly thing, open to any meaningful contribution, extensions, docs, content, or community help. So if you don’t win the ticket, re-submit for the monthly Spotlight and you will be entered into those going forward.

Full details and rules are available on our blogpost.

We’d genuinely like feedback on how this works as we go, this is a first version and we expect to adjust it depending on community feedback.
