iPhone photo uploads seem to be converted

I want to upload originals from my photos, I’d like to keep HEIC format for photos and MOV for videos, but for some reason, they end up being converted/a converted version is uploaded. To the best of my recall, I don’t remember modifying anything server side that provokes this, so I file this under iOS, but feel free to move this where it fits best. This instance is a self hosted one on a server under my control

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to settings/media upload and uncheck convert HEIC to JPEG and convert videos to MP4
  2. Upload mov video/heif photo from iPhone to oC (either adding files from oC or sharing them from the Photos app)
  3. Uploaded file ends up being jpeg or mp4

Expected behaviour

I expected the file to be heic/mov

Actual behaviour

Uploaded file ends up being jpeg or mp4
