If I want to view a file, e.g a PDF file, in the iOS app it is downloaded and takes up space on the phone. I can’t seem to find how to remove the downloaded file from the phone without deleting it from the server. In iCloud it’s called ”Free up space”, how do I do this with owncloud?
On android app - click the icon top right (your user icon?) - and it gives the option to do that
(image of a handbrush…next to the scary bin icon that I assume does bad things…luckily has a “are you sure” incase you fat finger it)
I would assume the IOS app UI is at least similar…
hi @Calle , some ways to do that in the iOS app:
Open the sidebar menu, and long press over the pill (where you see your username and server) and then Manage
.
You’ll see there an option to delete the offline files. That option will remove all downloaded files that are not available offline (in order to remove the av. offline files as well, there is another switch available).
Other way: In Settings
you’ll find an option Delete unused copies
with a time slider. All the downloaded files that were unused (unopened or performed any operation) after the chosen time will be automatically removed from the device. For sure, the remote copy will be there, just removing the local copy.
I hope it helps!
Perfect thank you! If it’s possible to make a request to consider it would be great if there also was an option to do this for each file alone.
Sure, if you are brave to create a new issue in the open repo, team will discuss and take care. Otherwise, i will create by myself and let you know the link to track.
I’ve submitted a request on GitHub. Thanks for the fast response.
Just as a comment: in the post title you included the Android app. Android app supports removing local copies individually. Just selecting the remove option of any file in Android app, a dialog will be prompted to choose either local or remote.
Android also supports the options mentioned above.
Let us know any question or idea. Thanks!
All right, my bad I assumed they were identical. The request is only for the iOS app then.
