Is there a way to bypass/manage/replace "trusted domain" verification?

I still haven’t implemented SSL encryption on my owncloud server, nor it’s accessible over the Internet. I only access it locally/with a Open VPN Server I’m hosting on my Raspberry. My mobile data provider doesn’t assign me a static IP, so unless I get a DDNS for my phone I don’t see a way I could access my cloud whenver I’m not at home/using my VPN.

If I implemented SSL encryption, would the trusted Domain verification still be active?
Let’s say I want to grant access to some friends, I don’t see how this would be possible with the domain verification (No, I can’t suggest them to get a DDNS).

Add the url you use to access you pi from the outside to trusted domain or the ip
