Mac OS compatibility

Is there a list of which versions of OC are compatible with which versions of MacOS?

How about for Windows?

I tried upgrading OC to the version 3.2 on MacOS High Sierra and it failed. Became a real pain to get it back to a version that worked.
Afraid to update the Windows 7 PC’s OC because of the issues. (it is stuck on Win 7 for now)

Version List would be really nice. What versions work with which versions of the OS.
