Massive issues with Owncloud

Expected behaviour

Owncloud has been working fin for about a year. But now its totally messed up.
It has always worked perfect for me before.

Actual behaviour

The status now is:
Some weeks ago i realized that one of my machines had not synced anything for about a week.
The Client kept crashing (Not responding) after a couple of minutes or checking for changes.

I tried to start over by uninstalling all Owncloud client stuff on the machine. Not working any better.
I emptied out the data on the server to try to get it to re-synck everything. No luck. It started to check for updates and found only some of the folders on my disc? Lets say the first 5 folders... Then it uploaded some of the data About 1/3 or it. And then it crashed. No matter what i did i could not make it find the rest of the folders.

I reinstalled the PC. I reinstalled the Linux server and cleaned out all disks to get a fresh start.
Still the same issue:
I add a small folder to sync first. It checks and uploads fine.
Then i add a second folder to sync. About 20Gb. It checks and uploads fine over night.
Then i add the big folder about 230Gb. And i get the same problem as before.
It starts to check for changes. Then creates 5 out of 30 folders and starts to upload. After many hours of upload it crashes. Not even uploading all the 5 folders worth of data. Maybe half of it.

I restart Owncloud and its very unstable.Sometimes it checks all 5 folders then crash when it starts to upload.
Sometimes it crashes after 5 seconds.
But what ever i do i cant get it to find all 30 folders.

I also get this strange behavior. Sometimes it seems to be finished. All 3 sync folders get the blue circle icon.
And they are all waiting for x amount of folders. First folder is waiting for 1 folder. second folder is waiting for 2 folders and the third folder is also waiting for 2 folders. Then nothing happens.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start owncloud...

Logs

I cant past the whole log in Gist. So here are some highlights:

Looks like a certificate issue to me, you could look in to it with the help of the ownCloud documentation:

https://doc.owncloud.com/server/10.0/admin_manual/

This log isn't from a one-year-old installation that just broke. This log is from a fresh installation.

Which version did you use in the past and which version is the fresh installation?

dmitry.
I used this guide to fix the certificate:

jvillafanez
Yes its from the fresh install.

skriesch
I dont remember what version i had before. But now i have to latest one.

Update.
I managed to get it running again after deleting the folder i had issues with totally and start over.
It uploaded everything without problem.
However i still have alot of:

This morning it had crashed again.

I only have 3 folders and the Martin folder is waiting for 3 other folders. How is that possible?

Could you explain what are you trying to do? You have your old server1 connected to DB1... are you trying to update it? do you want to add another server behind a load balancer for a HA setup (or something similar) is it a completely new installation unrelated to the previous one?

During the mysql setup, ownCloud will try to create a user inside the DB for it to connect to the DB with the required permissions over the DB you've set in the setup. This means that normally, you'll use the root user for the DB. If you're using another user, it might not have enough permissions to do the setup.
In addition, if another ownCloud installation is using that DB, make sure the new installation doesn't collide with the previous one: use a different admin user and a different DB.

Hi.
Im not trying to do anything strange.
I had a lot of issues so i reinstalled everything. I reinstalled my windows machine. I reinstalled and wiped my Linux server.
And all the issues i had before the reinstall is still there. The client keeps crashing. And files not uploaded the first try does not upload after the crash.
What happens after the fresh install:
I started Owncloud and it started syncing. First two folders sync fine.
Owncloud client crashes after about 20Gb of 230Gb (LOTS of small files if that maters).
If i restart Ownclowd client it only checks the folders that were uploaded the first time.

I went into the browser and manually deleted all files and folders from the third folder and restarted Owncloud.
All 230Gb were uploaded! But i keep getting the NetworkError.
After the successful upload it worked for some hours. Then it crash and i get the wierd waiting for X folders like the attached image above. It waits for more folders than i have...

My big problem right now is that is very unstable.

I have lots of theese in my clientlog:

Started Owncloud this morning.
Now it crashed on the same place as before.

Client log says:
02-12 12:36:10:915 [ warning sync.propagator ]: Could not complete propagation of "Kunder/Kruger/VandTek/Unity/VandTek/Assets/Immerse/Immerse Framework/Textures/UI/Icon Pack/Immerse Framework Icons (White Circle Outline)-paint-roller.png.meta" by OCC::PropagateIgnoreJob(0x4f70ade8) with status 6 and error: "File/Folder is ignored because it's hidden."

Does the web UI works properly without any issue? Is it the desktop client the only one that misbehaves? What about android / iOS (if you have those)?

@alfageme could you check the cause of the above client log?

At this point I'm not sure if it's the server the one that is giving problems, or the client doing weird things (maybe because of the server) or you just have an unstable internet connection (Unexpectedly slow connection, took 265886 msec for 1196 bytes for "Demos/AEC....)

Its only the client that misbehaves. The web UI works perfect.

The slow connection is interesting since both the workstation and the Linux server is connectin in the same Switch...

Hey @DonLKSAB, I'm sorry for my late reply - thanks for reporting. It actually looks like the case described in https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/6272 (since your last logs present hidden/conflict entries); we've recently merged a few tweaks on how the "issues list" is built and sorted on the client:

You can try a recent Windows 2.4.1 daily build to see if it solves your issues: http://download.owncloud.com/desktop/daily

Thanks!
