Migrating from 8.2 to 10.x

Looking for some clarification of Migrating my data to a fresh install of OC10 (ESX appliance)…

I have so far, backed up config and data and the mysql database from my 8.2 server.

Upgrading isn’t possible as PHP7 will no longer install on Ubuntu 14.x as this was the original path I was going to take (upgrade to 8.2.11 and then directly to latest 10.x as this was said to be supported).

data is located on a file server outside of the VM of OC 8.2.

My question is, do I import the config/data and db files as per these instructions: https://doc.owncloud.org/server/8.2/admin_manual/maintenance/migrating.html

or is there a better way to go about this considering the major Ver. difference.

Thanks

Hey,

i think your only option would be the following:

  1. Update the 8.2 installation to the latest available 8.2 version
  2. Migrate the config/data and db files to the new installation while keeping the /data folder at the same location like previously
  3. Start the update to the latest ownCloud version 10.2.1

I think your linked documentation could be a little bit outdated as well, seems there are more recent / up2date ones available at:
