Hi there!
I was wondering because I´m not up to date with my desktop client. I´m still using 2.4.3. There comes no update popup like you explained in the manual. Can I do the update manually?

According to this documentation https://doc.owncloud.com/desktop/latest/autoupdate.html#the-automatic-updater the client should update automatically.
Are you sure your setup is correct?
What OS do you have?
2.5.x auto update is delayed.
