ownCloud 2.9 beta 2 for Android released

Hello everyone,

first of all, we would like to thank all our testers that have been sending us their useful feedback with the previous beta version, released approximately a month ago.

We have put a great effort into fixing all the problems detected and today we are announcing a second 2.9 beta.

Which features of 2.9 beta 2 can I test?

We have fixed some annoying crashes that many of you have probably noticed in the next scenarios:

  • When rebooting the device.
  • When copying, moving files or choosing a folder within camera uploads feature.

Apart from this, we’ve been polishing one of our main challenges, the network library replacement, and solved some failing downloads.

The last fix to test would be a contribution by @sd1998 since the pattern lock was being asked very often after disabling fingerprint lock.

How can I join the beta program?

If you want to join the beta program in PlayStore, you will need to have the last app version installed. If you already have the last version installed, go to ownCloud app in PlayStore and scroll down to the end of the view; there you will see a new tab like the one below, just press the I’M IN button to join and your final app will be replaced with the beta one.

2.9.0 beta 2 will be also available in F-Droid soon.

How can I send my feedback to ownCloud developers?

If you find a bug or want to make any suggestion, please participate in one of these channels:

– Open a new issue on Github: https://github.com/owncloud/android/issues/

– Open a new topic on central: https://central.owncloud.org/

– Write to apps@owncloud.com

The app logs can help us a lot to detect possible bad behaviour, so this is what you have to do to send us a log file via apps@owncloud.com.

Just play around with it!
