Owncloud 8.1 upload speed decreases dramatically over time

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Owncloud 8.1 server on a QNAP station
  2. Install Owncloud client.
  3. Sync a folder of containing 250Gb of data over local network

Expected behaviour

I would expect the transfer to be done in a couple of hours at most.

Actual behaviour

Takes more than a week. Transfer speed is slowing down as more things have been uploaded.

Hello, Owncloud 8.1 is not supported now but if in the folder you have many small files ( over 1000) , the time of sync is very long.

Thanks for the answer. Is there a workaround ? Or it is just that owncloud is not suited for syncing large folders?

I guess you should upgrade to at least 9.1 first and try again. IIRC there have been many improvements since the last major releases 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0.
