Hello. Don’t know if this is the correct category to post this topic but couldn’t find a more specific one. Is it appropriate to use owncloud as a content management system for displaying photos and playing videos (video around 1 GB in size) via the web browser?
Yes, but it depends on your expectations - which functions do you expect from a “content management system”?
I am managing all my photos in owncloud. Browsing through them is quite comfortable, as the “gallery”-app shows nice thumbnails and slide show is under your fingertips. And it is easy to share photos with friends and family - even with differentiated views for different persons / groups.
If you look for a system to easily present your pictures to a greater audience via internet, there are possibly better solutions out there - “CMS” is a big thing in website tools.
