Owncloud crashes Linux Mint's Cinnamon desktop

Expected behaviour

Clicking on the icon in the system tray should open the client.

Actual behaviour

Crashes Linux Mint’s Cinnamon desktop

Steps to reproduce

  1. owncloud client starts at startup
  2. left click on icon in the system tray panel. Screen freezes, wait 10 seconds, screen flashes, desktop restarts, warning message saying Cinnamon crashed, do you want to restart it, “yes”. Desktop environment restarts. This concerns only the display. No application is killed.
  3. After that, left click on the owncloud icon that remains in the sys tray does nothing. Right click opens the menu. Clicking “settings…” does not open the client. I only can “quit”, then restart the client, which then works properly.

Logs

The bug happens only with the startup-started instance of the client. I don’t know how to start at startup with a log file owncloud --logfile log.txt

Please consider updating this old version.

My owncloud client (2.5.4) has no problem with Cinnamon.
