OwnCloud Desktop Client 2.5.1 doesn't start on macOS 10.11.6

Recently I’m unable to start the OwnCloud Desktop Client on my iMac (macOS 10.11.6).

Error message:

I think you might have a bogus installation.
Please remove the whole owncloud.app in /Applications and then re-install it

Thank you very much @guruz - this did the trick! Although I had previously tried to reinstall the app, but without deleting it first.
