No errors have been found.

Log in to the web-UI with an administrator account and click on
‘admin’ → ‘Generate Config Report’ → ‘Download ownCloud config report’
This report includes the config.php settings, the list of activated apps
and other details in a well sanitized form.

Please add at least your owncloud.log for the time around you are trying to download and the output of your browser console when you are downloading.

This is interesting - there is no background.js on my known ownCloud instances. Do you see where this file comes from (where it is located)?

You might have a look at your installed FF add-ons.

that’s strange… I’m lookin at that file, but not able to find it.
I will try to deactivate the FF addons and see what will happen.

Which file you’re referring to? If you mean background.js, forget it. Mostly a browser extension part.

We assume that you have got browser plugins that break your downloads. You could test the following things:

  • Can you download >500MB files from any other site? Try, e.g. the 1.4GB Ubuntu iso at https://releases.ubuntu.com/22.04.1/ubuntu-22.04.1-live-server-amd64.iso
  • Could it happen that you are low on disk space and therefore your downloads cannot finish?
  • Up- an download a 500MB+ file on https://demo.owncloud.com/ - I just tested this with a 520MB file and it was both up- and downloaded successfully. If this does not work for you then your browser (or even operating system) is the culprit.
  • When the test from above is not working as well, start Firefox with a new profile (so for sure no plugins are used) - see Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles | Firefox Help how to accomplish this
  • If still not working with a clean Firefox profile have a look at your firewall settings. Sure you are not blocking large downloads? Are you using a proxy server that maybe cuts such transfers?

If you are now here and did not have a successful download then something with your OS is wrong, but I am afraid we cannot help in that case.

Do you use a reverse proxy for access? Maybe a restriction is set on it?
