currently I'm running a Owncloud 9.1 instance on my dedicated Ubuntu 14.04 root server . I have now read serveral threads about installing the Collabora Docker image on my server, but the main issue is that Collabora is not supporting the Ubuntu 14.04 operating system regarding missing protocolls. Therefore my question, is it possible to install the Collabora Server on a virtual instance on the same host with a supportet OS and connect with the ‚Collabora Online connector 1.1.4‘ over the Port 9980 from my running Owncloud 9.1 instace to the collabora server? If not, is there another solution to bring the Collabora Online funtionalities in my current Owncloud instance.
System informations: Owncloud 9.1 running since Ownlcoud 8 Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Plesk 12.5 with Apache, nginx & reverse proxy PHP 7 with MYSQL 5.6.30
exactly this is the use-case of the docker image: Running an external instance of this collabora server and connect with your oC instance to it. Where the docker image is running is not important, as long as your oC instance can connect to it.
thank you very much for your fast response, this sounds very good. Can you tell me what ist the best OS for running the docker imager, is the Ubuntu 16.04 sufficient? And atfer installing the docker image if I need to install also the apache, proxy etc. or is this unnecessary?
Last night I have try to install the Docker Image on my Ubuntu 16.04 VM, but with no happy-end. Later I will try again. This is the second to the last needed tool on my Owncloud
