Any recommendation for an app for scanning documents directly to ownCloud?
Welcome back!
What do you mean scanning directly to ownCloud? It works just like any other folder. Save the scan to your ownCloud folder and you are done.
I just tested from an Android device using Make A Copy from the F-Droid store. It uses the system file picker and let me select ownCloud. No reason that you couldn’t use a scanner on your network or computer in the same manner. Just save to your ownCloud folder.
Are you asking about some other concept? If so, would you mind describing exactly what you have in mind?
I ask for a good app, not about ownCloud, I’m confident oC will handle the upload perfectly.
The app need to save the scan directly to webdav, not first to local storage (and then you upload, that introduce an extra layer of actions).
Working people often collect accounting documents/receipts they need to forward to finance department. The best way to do this is to scan document, in the field right away, to cloud directly QUICKLY!
Today many use OneDrive but to many nag-popups and the user interface change once a week, which is not good when you are in the field, you just wanna scan QUICK without any hassle.
oC would be a good alternative, but a good app is the missing part.
Hi @MrBw!
Unfortunately, the document scanner is not implemented in the Android app yet. We have an open issue (https://github.com/owncloud/android/issues/2119) in our GitHub repository with some discussions about the topic you mentioned. The iOS app already includes a document scanning feature but not in Android…
As an alternative, you can use the “Upload from camera” feature to take a photo of your document. However, the file will be uploaded as an image (.jpg) instead of PDF (.pdf)…
OK, thanks for quick reply, I’ll try it out.
And hope for scan support in the app in the future.
And thanks for the fantastic work you do ![]()
