Some doubts about Google Drive as external storage

Hello. I have an Owncloud server 10.0; just a very small implementation (4 users).
I have some doubts and I was looking for advice.

I have Google Drive account connected as external storage but I'm concerned about disk space

Are Google Drive files stored into owncloud's data folder or are these files accessed directly to Drive?
Google Drive would act as a "Samba Shared Folder"?

Goole Drive would act as external storage, which means that files stay there. Trashbin and Versions however will land on your local storage. Generally Google Drive and other external cloud storages aren't a replacement for local storage from a performance standpoint.
