Why does the local sync folder contain copies of local files?

I am using the OwnCloud client on Windows 10, the clients seems to be version 2.4.1

It seems that the local OwnCloud folder is containing copies of the local files that are to be synced. I was just wondering: Why is that so? Why not use links? This would save a lot of disk space.

There is an option in the client 2.5.2 (experimental) where you can choose to virtually “store” the files on the file system. I believe you need to reconfigure your client.

You can configure multiple folder sync pairs. Just configure the original file location as local part of the folder sync connection.
