Windows Desktop Client sync fail - Desktop folder - Possible conflict with Onedrive

,

Expected behaviour

Desktop Client should add sync folder for Windows 10 User’s Desktop

Actual behaviour

“Could not find StorageFolder for C:/users/xxxxx/Desktop/ error: WindowsError: fffffffff80070005 Acces is denied.”
Unable to remove failed sync connection, 3 dots greyed out. Mouseover text “Setup error C:/users/xxxx/Desktop”

Steps to reproduce

  1. Windows 10 desktop logged in as Active Directory user
  2. Connect to cloud server via internet in desktop client
  3. Add sync connection to Local desktop and folder on owncloud server
  4. Have user who installed/used MS onedrive or Adobe Creative Cloud.

Client configuration

Operating system: Windows 10 21H1 Build 19043.1348

OS language: English

Installation path of client: C:/Program Files/Owncloud

This is an odd one, some clients were working for syncing these folders, but a few would not. I have tried running the client as administrator, but that does not make a difference.

Strangely the user had the deskop folder missing from view in C:/users/xxxx/ but was accessible if you typed in the address bar or in a command prompt. It might be related to onedrive or Adobe creative cloud. Both when deactivated there was still no ability to see the desktop folder from the user profile directory(C:/users/xxxxx/) either in explorer or command prompt.

These programs are pervasive and trying to get the user to not let them ravage their systems is difficult.

This user has not set up any backups to the desktop folder, because both did not have user files uploaded (Desktop is locally 6GB).
