Deskop client keeps crashing during every sync since update to 2.5.0

Hi,
since I updated the destop client to 2.5.0, it keeps crashing at some point of every synchronization.
The bug report ID is bp-2bafb6d4-61ec-4046-8b69-d3e1a2181007

Server configuration

Operating system: Ubuntu 16.04
Web server: Apache 2.4
Database: MySql
PHP version: 7.0

ownCloud version: 10.0.10

Client configuration

Client version: 2.5.0
Operating system: Windows 8.1
OS language: English

Every since I upgraded to 2.5.0, it crashes every time I try to create a new folder sync. I have deleted and reinstalled v2.4.3 (build 10188).

Do you know where to download older versions from?

Hey,

personally i’m reporting a crash with an application (especially happening after an update) always to a bugtracker (in this case this should be the one of the Desktop client) rather then to a user based support forums.

Here you go:

I reported the bug on the github bugtracker, now. Let’s see what happens now.
Nevertheless, reverting to 2.4.3 helped. Thanks, Dalis!

Hey,

this is great. Thanks, hope there will be a fix provided soon.

For further readers of this topic it would be great if you could post the link to the reported issue here in this thread.

Please try with a current 2.5.1 daily build as we fixed some things. Sorry for the crashes.

using 2.5.1 and it still keeps crashing. not that much as 2.5 but once a day at least it crashes

@ guruz
Sorry, there are crashes with the 2.5.1 (built 108007) version (error message : “the server file discovery reply is missing data”)
and it is impossible to try the 2.5.1 version you mention (when I click on the link, I have error message 404 “# Not Found - The requested URL /desktop/daily/ownCloud-2.5.1.10909.10794-daily20181025.msi was not found on this server.”)
Thanks for your feedback.

Still regular crashes with macOS Mojave 10.14. 1 for ownCloud version 2.5.1 (build 10818)

Same thing for me: crash at least once per day. I did not identify the exact conditions as it seems rather random. However it seems it happens while I am using Chrome browser (and Brave now) but it could be a coincidence.
Version 2.5.1 (build 10818) on Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.5 MacBook pro 13"
I send each time the report… apparently without any effect…

Hey,

for Apple user there seems to be an bug report (found it in Desktop app 2.5.1 (build 10818) on MacOS Mojave 10.14.2 crashes a lot) to the developers of the sync client available below.

If i understand this link correctly the developers are not able to reproduce this and crash reports seems to not contain enough information as well. But it seems some additional questions where asked there, maybe you can contribute this info here:

I have been using the MacOS Activity Monitor app to track memory as requested above. Since it has been on (a couple of days now), there has been no crash (yay!?), so there is nothing new to report. Don’t you just love this kind of defects? I don’t.

It’s been running for 3 days.

Today 06:14:

This Github is uptight!!! No more than 1 attachment. Wait before posting more. No more than 3 posts. Grrrrr.

The final image I wanted to upload was memory post crash, whether it’s helps…

Hey @jeanrajotte,

i’m not sure if the sync client team will notice this information here (AFAIK ownCloud people are only occasional online here) so i think it could make sense to add at least a note to https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/6942 with a reference to your images/posts in this thread.

This is still an ongoing issue for me on Windows 10 64b. The programme is no longer useable for me, when will a fix be available?

Have you tried 2.5.4? It contains crash fixes
