Desktop sync client 2.3.3 released

Hi everyone,

We've released our next desktop release, 2.3.3.

Changes and Download: https://owncloud.org/changelog/desktop

It contains an important fix for compatibility with the server 10.x. With older client versions, you could get into a situation where overwriting a small file on the server with a big file on the desktop would not work.

On Linux the client will now ship with its own Qt version 5.6.2.

We will activate the auto updater in some days, but if you want the new version now please download it.

Supported platforms are documented at Desktop System Requirements (https://doc.owncloud.org/server/latest/admin_manual/installation/system_requirements.html#desktop):

  • Windows 7+
  • Mac OS X 10.7+ (64-bit only)
  • CentOS 6 & 7 (64-bit only)
  • Debian 7.0 & 8.0 & 9.0
  • Fedora 24 & 25 & 26
  • Ubuntu 16.04 & 16.10 & 17.04
  • openSUSE Leap 42.1 & 42.2 & 42.3

For Linux distributions, we support, if technically feasible, the latest 2 versions per platform and the previous LTS.

Linux deprecation heads-up: Releases after 2.3.3 do not support Fedora 24 or lower, openSUSE Leap 42.1 or lower, Debian 7.0 or lower.

2.4.0 deprecation heads-up: We will drop 32-bit Linux support and MacOS X 10.9 support or lower.

We also have a "testpilotcloud" branding that uses a separate configuration directory and does not interfere with your normal client installation: See the links on the right side here: https://owncloud.org/install/#testing-development

Thank you, Markus, Michael & Jürgen

We have a small update: 2.3.4 fixes a endless loop issue with checksum calculation of Office files on Windows.
