OC 10.1.0 on Ubuntu 18.04

Testing the Ubuntu 18.04 server fresh install, this happened with an upgrade too

smbclient is not quite working as i should.

In Ubuntu 16.04 I can see folders when I mount a cifs share
In Ubuntu 18.04 I can’t see folders or files once I click the mount point

Update:

It works if I use my domain admin account on the share, while my normal user can’t see any folders

In Ubuntu 16.04 my normal user can see all the folders

Any suggestions?

It might be a “problem” / “fixed bug” in the native smbclient library. You should be able to set the domain in the mount point configuration.

The domain field is already set, the mount point shows up as green but I can’t see any folders.
Same domain account on 16.04, same share sees the folders correctly

Check (and submit) the logs then. I expect errors showing there.

Nothing useful in those logs…

Try setting the 'smb.logging.enable' => true in the config.php file, and reproduce the issue. You might want to filter the logs by app.
Those logs will be quite verbose, so you might want to disable them afterwards.

I don’t see anything wrong in the logs…
Could you check the behaviour with smbclient? If the behaviour is the same with smbclient, I don’t think we can do anything about it from ownCloud because the library used is the same.

I have tried that before I decided to ask for help here, when I mount the share with either of these commands I can see all the folders correctly on the command line

mount.cifs "//spfps/Staff Share" /media/Temp -o username domainuser

smbclient "//spfps/Staff Share" -U domainuser

This has happened when I snapshot my current Ubuntu 16.04 and perform an upgrade and from a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04

Could you try to connect to a different share without spaces in the same machine? There might be a bug with the spaces in the share name.
Just create a new share or try to rename it.

I’ve added another folder nospace in owncloud and used a share with no spaces, no luck

I also added a third share from a Linux SMB server and that is showing all the folders properly, so appears to be related to the domain shares

Any relevant information about the SMB server? Is it windows or samba? Any relevant configuration option in the SMB server?

Domain shares are on Microsoft Windows Server 2016

The one that is working is not a domain joined linux samba share running on Ubuntu 18.04 server

I’ve just tried with a Linux samba share of a domain joined Ubuntu 18.04 server and that’s working too

Maybe you can’t access because you’re joined to a domain and, as such, you can’t access to shares outside of that domain?
I don’t have experience with domain shares, but it sounds a reasonable explanation.

The owncloud server is not joined to a domain

It definitely points to a permission problem somewhere, since domain admin can see and mount all folders as specified in the second post

Those same domain shares work fine on Ubuntu 16.04, they are not any different from any other samba share

Double-check if it works with smbclient "//spfps/Staff Share" -U domainuser -W olimar. ownCloud is connecting with a domain that might not be recognized by the SMB server.

Other than that, I guess what’s left is to check the network traffic with wireshark or something similar
