Notes on using built-in updater

Affects ownCloud versions 10.0.0-10.0.2

Please disregard these instructions if you are not using web updater.

Unfortunately 10.0.0 has an issue with a build-in web updater.

another issue was discovered in 10.0.1 and 10.0.2 so the patch was repacked to fix all issues at once

You need to proceed with the following steps in order to make it work:

  1. Download the package from https://github.com/owncloud/updater/files/1072389/patched-10.0.0.zip
  2. Extract it
  3. browse into patched-10.0.0 directory
  4. FTP all files from this directory into your owncloud root directory overwriting existing files

If the updater is supposed to work as a standalone solution, couldn't it be shipped as a complete subdir tgz instead of the patched files?
