Update crashes (since years) :(

This is not a support question. I just want to inform, that I’m very bugged about the update function of oc. Since years (oc 8) it never was possible to update the oc by the internal updater. It allways crashed.

The manually way like explained here: https://doc.owncloud.org/server/9.1/admin_manual/maintenance/upgrade.html where it’s told to keep /data and /config and overwrite all other files, does not work either. The oc changed to maintenance mode and never woke up again.

Other ways are not possible for me due to the fact, that I run oc on an ordinary hosting package.
When ever I want to update I have to make a clean install. That’s why I update oc very rarely.
What a pity.

Hey,

i had found / seen an older discussion OC Updater: cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate from two years ago where an unknown user hat suggested to not use the updater app at all. Maybe this is still valid?

i had to always disable the maintenance mode on my own so i think this is an expected behavior. In seems even the manual upgrade documentation is explicitly telling you to disable the maintenance mode manually:

https://doc.owncloud.org/server/9.1/admin_manual/maintenance/manual_upgrade.html

Tom: Happy ownCloud user without updating issues since around ownCloud 9.1 by following the manual upgrade instructions.
