Hey there I am new to the forums I recently installed the own cloud client on the qnap server I am wonderinf to and if or how to correctly point the desktop client to the own cloud server client, and can people out side the local network point to this server as well to backout there computer say have a client use my personal server for their backups

There is only the owncloud server. Before you get more into this QNAP installation, be aware of some serious limitations:
i wanted to use the QNAP Database on my TS-219PII. But with the recent 4.2.2 it was upgraded to MariaDB. According to the release notes, InnoDB is not supported on ARM-Hardware.
OC supports InnoDB only. No-Go? Or anyone lucky and i am doing something wrong?
Currently, in Qnap App Center only a version 8.0.4 is available. Since Qnap offers a bit of a restricted environment I was wondering if there is a plan to upgrade to 9.1?

I have a QNAP HS-251+ acting as Owncloud server with version 8.2.7. I have a very basic configuration with 2 users in Windows 10 sharing some folders with Desktop Sync client.
The problem is quite simple, very large files give timeout when you downnload trought sync clients. For example, a zip file of 7 GB is uploaded correctly to the server from user1 PC. You can dowload it from Web version but it always timeout from user2 PC via sync client.
