So I tried to upgrade our vps server with owncloud with runs a on a instance with C-panel.
the VPS is a “Managed Server” so I do not have direct access to the vps command prompt itself.
Once we ran the upgrade the onecloud locked itself up in “maintenance mode” so we went beck to the config file and changed that to from “true” to “false”. However that does not do the trick as it now reports that it cannot upgrade due to apps being too old or incompatible etc.
See screenshots below:
Screenshot logfile:
So how can I fix this?
How can I disable the apps without using the linux command prompt?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Kind regards

Hey, it seems various possibilities are currently discussed in various other threads about the same issue:
I guess I made a mistake. I have 10.0.85 installed as a package from my server and now I manually tried to upgrade to 10.0.9… OwnCloud turned into maintenance mode, which I have disabled. This way I got a message “Click to upgrade” and than this:
OC\RepairException: Upgrade is not possible
Repair warning: You have incompatible or missing apps enabled that could not be found or updated via the marketplace.
Repair warning: Please install or update the following apps manually or disable them wit…
I have just upgarded to the latest version of OC, and my instance has been stuck in maintainance mode for the past couple of hours.
Is there anyway to manually set it back to on-line?
Is there any reason why it might have got stuck?
Hi there everyone!
Tried to update my OC installation this morning and it seems every app I ever installed is incompatible with the latest version. Could I ask how I would go about disabling or uninstalling these so I can get my install working again?
This is the part I don’t understand:
disable them with: occ app:disable afterlogic occ app:disable audioplayer occ app:disable calendar occ app:disable contacts occ app:disable files_clipboard occ app:disable files_pdfviewer occ app:disable fi…
@PowerQuest see my experience, and fix here

Thanks @johnwayne but that would require that you actually have root access on the servers.

Hey,
in the first previous mentioned thread i had posted @alfredb has pointed out some steps which doesn’t require root access on the servers:
From your description, I assume you don’t have shell access, no option to run the suggested occ app:disable.
This is what I would try in such situation. Without any warranty.
If you have a tool like phpMyAdmin to access the DB, you can use it, to disable all the apps in question.
Go to table oc_appconfig, configkey enabled, set configvalue to No. Repeat for each app in question. Then start over with the upgrade.
Finally you can enable the apps in the admin panel. One by one, to be sure!
Thanks again for directing me towards the solution!
Disabling the apps through the database tables works perfectly.

Hey, as a reference a post related to the database method:
Hey, nice that you get this to work again Credits goes out to @alfredb
Out of curiosity i did a search for this oc_appconfig here and found an existing FAQ which describes this method in addition to the occ command.
@alfredb What do you think, does it make sense to directly link to this FAQ if new users are stumbling over the same? At least the “delete folder” method seems to not work anymore in recent versions of ownCloud but the other two could still be useful.
