Has anyone considered disabling account creation until the spam rampage is under control?
I am running out of flags, even when I flag only the first post in these elaborate spam topics.

I don’t have any control over account creation.
I’ve added a block for topics containing one of these words: loan cash money helpline finscore
hope that helps somewhat…
This doesn’t seem to work well.
There is a setting
Should we try that? It is not clear if staff includes moderators and admin or what exactly it does include …
I’d try that.
I can look into the moderator queue for half an hour, every other day or so.
I am still removing a handfull of spam every other day now. That is not too bad.
Moderator queue is filling up, I have not yet found an efficient way of dealing with that.
Each delete is ca 10 mouse clicks for me with slow response and internal 500 errors that need retries. After that, I have to navigate back to the queue for the next item.
Hey,
i think there are some additional spam postings recently. I think the following are new users posting either quite technical or really non-sense responses which i think are ChatGPT generated:
I have flagged them as “spam” already but i think it could be possible that the moderation team didn’t noticed these flags yet.
For the following i’m not sure if this is a spam bot or not:
These are already deleted:
-Latest Update cause 100% CPU consumption - #2
-Link to preview html files - #2 by anon30676603

Hey,
is there an admin available which could review my links / flags above? Because for example the original poster of What are the key features of ownCloud that differentiate it from other cloud storage solutions? came back now and now posted an obvious spam post:
I flagged the entire topic. It lacks any substantive content appears to be a ruse by spammers who are in cahoots.
A new spammer has arrived. This ThePriceIndex
spam has been attacking the Cloudflare Community recently. Everyone currently participating in the following topic is suspect.
Thanks Team for keeping them flagged. If there is a good idea what can be done to protect better please don’t hesiate to share.
Hey,
those are a few additional users which i think could be suspicious because they have joined recently and have answered high specific / complex topics with quite generic (AI?) generated responses (including e.g. “or contacting support for a fix” or “consulting the Docker and OwnCloud communities could provide additional guidance”):
Hey,
i wasn’t sure about the user Profile - abuhanzala - ownCloud Central initially but i think with the last two posts i think it is clear now that this is a spam bot and the user and all of his posts should be deleted.
While both posts contains some “on topic” content (i think AI generated to look legit) they are also containing posts to 3rd party sites so i think these posts have the only purpose to push the relevant domains.
I concur with your assessment of that user profile.
I flagged this pointless “thank you” reply from a new account. It adds nothing relevant to the conversation and is a common spam account tactic.
Looks like another one using the waters.
Hey,
is there some one of the @moderators group available who could alert the administrators of this forum to solve the spam problem?
There is again a spam wave incoming and quite a lot flagged postings of spam suspicious are still available as of today. I think the longer the existing spam postings are kept the higher the chances are that more automated spam bots are hitting the forums
I’ve used all of my daily allowance for flagging spam today and the spam posts are still pouring in.
Hey,
i think with 245 new topics created in the last few hours it doesn’t worth to report each posting and i think the only hope we have left is that some administrator is waking up and clean up the mess
I agree. I sent a private message to the moderators group, too.
